End of the Road
My days at Westside Elementary are winding down. Friday will be my last day in the school! I want to thank all of the students for letting me into the classroom with open arms. I couldn't picture having a better student teaching experience. I have learned more than I could have ever imagined. This third grade class was so much fun and made no two days the same! All of the students have bright futures to look forward too and will excel in 4th grade next year. I look forward to continuing my journey as an elementary teacher and putting what I've learned to the test!

Creating Our Community
This week in social studies I am teaching the students about communities. We read a short description of the community we were to create. We then categorized our items to be included into our community into four different categories: geographical, business/industry, homes and other features. The class was broke into these four groups and were responsible for creating the community. It turned out awesome! Our community includes a river, hills, a school, a zoo, even a military base! The students were creative with their ideas and came up with an awesome community!

We're From…….
Last week the students got to show off the skills they learned from making social studies non-fiction matrixes the past few weeks. They chose a book that focused on different countries all around the world. They read the story, did research on the country and created a poster on the country. On Thursday each student gave a presentation to the class. They all were awesome and are out on display in the halls now!

Recent Activities
Life in third grade has been exciting and busy! I just completed my second week teaching full time to the students. They have been wonderful! I am working towards updating my blog with the recent activities that we are working on. Friday was a busy day as we began our morning attending the fifth grade musical: Making the Band! It was a lot of fun and the fifth graders sang some great hits to us!
Later on in the morning we had an Excel Energy presentation. We learned about the dangers of electricity as well as how to be safe with electricity. The kids loved it and asked many great questions.

Welcome!
Hello parents and students!
My name is Abbey Taubert, many of you may have heard about me from your children. I am in my third week of student teaching in Mrs. Steinbrink's third grade class! I am currently a student at Valley City State University getting my bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. I am also receiving my Human Development and Family Science degree from North Dakota State University. I came to Fargo from Pipestone, Minnesota.
In my free time I enjoy being around my family and friends. I spend a lot of time during the summer at our lake cabin on Lake Poinsett in South Dakota. I also enjoy spending time with my two four-legged friends. Lilly (pictured below) is about to have her 14th birthday! I also have a Golden Retriever named Izzy.

Ask your child about my About Me book I shared with them in class :)
